HOPE 2023 Congress Steering Committee

The Shaping the Future with Education Congress’ Steering Committee (SC) is responsible for is responsible for the overall organisation and financial planning of the conference.

The Committee consists of individuals with administrative, practical or academic experience in the field of education, and with exceptional organisational capabilities. The Committee operated in conjunctions with other resources available in the area, including local schools, hospitals, associations and public bodies.

Laura Fiorini

Laura Fiorini is the Principal of the Maffeo Vegio High School located in Lodi, which is the leading school for Hospital Schools and Home Schooling services in Lombardy. She has been involved in this project since 2007, especially dealing with the organisational and educational aspects. She has written books and newspapers articles. One of her main tasks is to carry out training activities about educational and methodological applications of telematic and multimedia tools.

Lorena Almansi

Graduated in Letters (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Milano), she has been teaching Italian Literature and History in the High School since 1986. She is currently a High School teacher at S. Gerardo Hospital (Monza). She is the Hospital High School Coordinator at I.I.S. Mosè Bianchi – S. Gerardo Hospital – Fondazione MBBM. She is coach and judge for national and international Debate tournaments. She has been a Hope Member since 2019.

Michele Capurso

Michele Capurso is a researcher and lecturer in Educational Psychology at the University of Perugia, Italy. He started his career as a schoolteacher and then worked as a hospital teacher. He was Head of the Practical Teacher Training programs at the University of Perugia.
Michele has published several books and articles on children’s fears and coping, understanding of illness, didactics and communication. He served in the Board of HOPE for eight years, and as a President for two. He is the founder and current chief editor of the journal Continuity in Education. Over the years, Michele has participated in Hospital School-related conferences all over Europe, USA, Australia.

Maria Rosa Maggioni

She got a Degree in Foreign Languages and Literature at Università Cattolica di Milano.
She has been teaching since 1991 and she currently works at Secondary Hospital School.
She has been a HOPE member since 2019.
She is the Hospital Secondary School Coordinator at Istituto Comprensivo Salvo D’Acquisto di Monza.

Orianna Roberta Marzi

Orianna has been teaching in the primary school since 1984.
Previously she taught at a school for students with severe mental illnesses and disabilities; since 2007 she has worked at the Primary Hospital School. Since 2018 she has been welcoming foreign students and helping them into the school community.
Since 2020 she has also become the teacher in charge of the Internships.
She has been a HOPE member since 2019

Flavia Tarquini

Flavia graduated with a Master’s Degree in Biology at the University of Milano, and then she took a postgraduate degree in “Expert in New Technologies for Teaching” at the Politecnico di Milano.
She has been teaching Natural Science and Mathematics in the secondary school since 1986, and in 1994 she moved to the hospital school.
Flavia is the coordinator of the Hospital School at the Istituto Comprensivo Salvo D’Acquisto in Monza and works at the Ospedale San Gerardo- Fondazione MBBM. She has been a HOPE Member since 2008, a Deputy Committee Member since 2014 and a Committee Member since 2020.

Fabrizio Mencarini

Fabrizio has been working with HOPE since 2006 and he has a stable role in the IT sector of the organization.
Now he has been asked to take part in the organization of the Hope’s next congress, invitation of which he felt honoured and which he accepted with great pleasure.
Hoping that even the friends of HOPE may have some advantage from this collaboration he looks forward to meeting them again as soon as possible.
